The Perfectionist by Simon Duke – Coming soon.
I’ve been lucky enough to have an advance read of The Perfectionist and boy was it a good book. If chasing serial killers and watching mysteries unfold is your thing, then this is your book. I’ve read Simon’s previous book, a crime thriller called ‘Out of Bounds’ and would recommend that one too.
My thoughts on The Perfectionist:
Gerry, a journalist from a small town is part of the scene when a human head is discovered close by. Not wanting to ruin his low crime rate, the sheriff covers up the crime and they all continue as normal.
Years later, while Gerry is working as a hot-shot business journalist in the city, his past comes back to bite him in the form of an attractive woman called Sarah. Sarah is investigating her grandfather’s disappearance and uses Gerry’s knowledge of the cover-up to get him to assist her. While investigating, Gerry is entangled in a story that’s set to be huge. He unravels a spate of killings that have taken place over many years, even up to the present. As he gets closer to the truth his affections for Sarah grow.
The Perfectionist is an epic feeling, crime investigation novel. It spans many years and follows the gathering of evidence intricately. The characters are real and gritty, and the story is dark and compelling. If you are a crime novel fan, this book is a must. It also has a ‘killer’ ending with more than a couple of well laced surprises.
