The Paramedic’s Daughter by Tara Lyons – review.

Description:

Would you lie to your family to protect yourself?

Paramedic Abi Quinn is hailed as a hero by the patients she saves with the London Ambulance Service, but a secret she’s kept since she was a teenager now threatens to shatter that perfect illusion.

When her daughter Rose goes missing while studying at Brighton University, and ghosts from her past return to haunt her, Abi’s caught in a race against time to untangle the web of lies she set in motion over twenty years ago.

Everyone has something to lose.

Everyone is trying to protect themselves.

Everyone is broken.

But what lengths will they go to in order to stop the truth from being exposed?

Tara Lyons is the bestselling author of The DI Hamilton Series. The Paramedic’s Daughter is a shocking, unmissable psychological thriller which is set to be one of 2019’s stand-out reads. Perfect for readers of domestic noir, it will appeal to fans of authors like Louise Jensen, Shalini Boland and Cara Hunter.

My thoughts:

The Paramedic’s Daughter was my first Tara Lyon’s book and I’m so pleased I read it! Once this book grips, you have to keep going and it doesn’t take long in doing that. I love a first person POV read and this one did not disappoint. Written so well, I genuinely feel as though I spent my reading time in Abi’s head. In fact, given the shockers in it, It’s still lingering.

About those shocks! This book isn’t for the easily shocked. And it isn’t for those who don’t like intensity gripping their devices as they flick the pages and if you don’t like grit, really, don’t go there – grab yourself a cosy read. It has all of these attributes in abundance, and more.

If you love a race-against-time, you’ll love following Abi as she falls down hole after hole while searching for her missing adult daughter in Brighton. She’s like a whirlwind, peeling back the layers of her buried past in order to save her child. Plenty of thrills and chills all around. Fantastic psychological thriller!
